Hi john,
can you just clear something up 4 me pls.
I currently own a rental property, i have no mortgage on it i own it outright.
If i wanted to mortage this to raise capital to fund another BTL would i have to go for a BTL mortage or can i consider a normal residential mortage?
What would be the best way to go about this?

Hi Malcolm,

The simple rule is if you are renting it out you need a btl mortgage if you are living in it then a residential mortgage.

Getting a btl remortgage on a house with no mortgage is straight forward and most lenders would be happy with it.
